South Pacific Cruises

paul gauguin cruise

It amazed me how much the team on The Gauguin went out of its way to provide personalized attention to guests on board. By the second day, the staff and crew knew our names, and others we saw as well. Numerous staff and crew members have been with the ship for 10 years or more, while five crew members are celebrating 25 years this year. French Polynesia and Hawaii are different Polynesian experiences.

M/S Paul Gaugiun Deck Plan

Reservations are required for dining in La Veranda and Le Grill in the evenings for dinner and can be made with the restaurant Maitre d’ aboard the ship. Passports must be valid for at least six months after your return date of travel. Guests are responsible to ensure validity dates of passport and to secure proper documentation for countries visited. Please consult your respective State Department or Foreign Ministry for specific Visa and entry requirements for countries scheduled on your itinerary. Unique to Paul Gauguin Cruises, our troupe of cultural ambassadors—Les Gauguines (female) and Les Gauguins (male)—are local Tahitians who live aboard ship as hosts and entertainers, proud to share their culture and history with guests.

The immersion in French Polynesia is seamlessly carried throughout the onboard experience. Leading this is a fabulous onboard troupe of local Tahitian hosts and hostesses, Les Gauguins and Les Gauguines, who authentically bring the Polynesian culture and spirit to life. The Polynesian culture is rich, vibrant, and positive — and the soul of Tahiti permeates the entire ship. After enjoying a wealth of unmatched experiences, it’s nice to retreat to your own elegant private overwater stateroom or suite to enjoy some quiet time. The Gauguin’s well-appointed accommodations all offer magnificent ocean views and nearly 70 percent feature private balconies.

Is Paul Gauguin a good ship to cruise on?

The voyage is all-inclusive and provides a safe, secure, and effortless way to see the islands. Paul Gauguin Cruises offers many activities like enrichment lectures, Polynesian activities, two beach retreats, open dining, and variety of shore excursions that is conductive to meeting new friends. Valid travel documents such as passports and Visas are required for boarding and re-entry into the United States and other countries.

Seemed the very high activity ones sold out, but not sure about that. Everyone on the islands who we interacted with spoke English of some sort. Knowing French would add to the enjoyment of being able to interact with the locals who were not connected to the tourist part of the islands. Time at the private beaches were a "lazing in paradise experience".I know we read this from other reviews and we have to agree, the crew so adds to what makes this experience so enjoyable. Their sense of happiness, joyfulness and wanting to please is very contagious. We did not partake in any Spa appointments but seemed to be a popular spot.

A dress, or skirt or slacks with a blouse or sweater for ladies, and slacks and collared shirts for gentleman. The ship is equipped with a state-of-the-art communication system. Internet access is complimentary throughout the ship for all guests.

Before or after your cruise you can add an overwater bungalow stay to your trip. Paul Gauguin Cruises has an advanced cellular network installed onboard our ship, allowing guests to place and receive calls using their personal mobile phones when the ship is in international waters. For questions about services or about pricing and billing, guests should contact their mobile phone provider’s customer service department prior to sailing.

Paul Gauguin Cruises accepts no responsibility for obtaining required Visas nor advising guests of Visa or other immigration requirements. After receipt of final payment and required guest information, cruise documents will be sent approximately 25 days prior to your cruise departure. If your cruise includes Paul Gauguin Cruises air/sea program, the flight itinerary will be issued whenever possible in the form of e-tickets.

The Paul Gauguin cruises are an incredible way to discover all of the beauty French Polynesia and the South Pacific has to offer by boat. Read further to see some of the destinations we offer travel bookings for. It may seem like just another day in paradise, venturing ashore to ascend a densely forested peak for panoramic tropical views, or diving beneath the blue for an up-close view of the precious biodiversity that thrives along the reefs. Our experts have carefully designed six itineraries, ranging from 7 to 14 nights. All the unmissable spots such as Tahiti, Huahine, Taha’a, Bora Bora and Moorea are right at the heart of the m/s Paul Gauguin's cruise itineraries. Depending on the itinerary, our cruises can also take you to the untouched beauty of the Marquesas islands, diving into the world-renowned waters of the Tuamotu Islands and exploring the richness of the Cook Islands.

As a result, and also because the ship is so international, it can be a bit harder to strike up conversations with strangers than on other cruise ships, as people tend to stick to the groups they came with. Still, like any ship, it’s hard to feel lonely, as the staff go out of their way to create a friendly atmosphere. You need dinner reservations for both La Veranda and Le Grill. These can be hard to get, so it’s advisable to plan out your meals in these restaurants ahead of time so you can book soon after you board. Because Le Grill is the only casual option and it’s usually full, room service is your only option on those nights when you return from excursions and just don’t want to deal with dressing up. Luckily, for women this can be as easy as throwing on a sun dress (no T-shirts or shorts for men at dinner anywhere other than Le Grill).

When we travel, we unwittingly weave a rich tapestry of our encounters and experiences, and so often it is the people we meet that star in those stories, bringing them to life with each memory. From the first introduction to Les Gauguines and Les Gauguins on board to each visit to a local market, venture to a pearling farm, or walk through a rain forest, personal connections are cultivated with the people of French Polynesia. The sharing of cultured traditions not only elevates the guest experience, but rewards the communities with a sense of pride too. The ship does not have specific meetups for different nationalities or LGBTQ+ passengers. Groups – either with a certain travel agent or affinity organizations – are common on Paul Gauguin.

Wine selections are excellent and unlimited pours are included. Complimentary room service is also available around the clock, so enjoy the laid-back luxury of breakfast on your balcony or in bed. Pack your appetite and plan to fully enjoy all the memorable culinary experiences on the m/s Paul Gauguin. The ship’s award-winning chefs create a wide selection of gourmet international cuisines and locally sourced Polynesian specialties, all carefully prepared and artfully served. The ship also does an excellent job catering to food allergies and special diets.
